There are much better ways to drive around without getting noticed and driving around in cars that cost well over what any of us make isn’t one of them.
Our cars – a Mercedes-Benz S600 AMG, BMW 760Li, Jaguar XJ and the Audi A8 – are dressed in their best colors with the waxed paint job glimmering in the evening sunlight. Driving through the heavily used highways around the Cleveland area is prime gawking time for motorists. At first, the stares and pointing fingers can make you feel a bit uncomfortable, but can you blame them? It isn’t everyday that you see a luxury barge roll through a relatively poor city, especially now that LeBron James is gone.
These four sedans might be large in stature, but one nudge or poke in the wrong place and its goodnight in one impressive display. So, with more onlookers than a Thanksgiving Day parade, we are obliged to find the best luxury sedan among the four.

Mercedes is currently testing the next generation S-Class that will be unveiled at the end of the year. Codenamed the W222, the next S-Class will be inspired by the F700 Concept unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show.
What we know for sure is that the next S-Class will get blacked-out headlamps, a dummy front grille, and a new front bumper. Under the hood there will be a revised range of V6 and V8 engines. The base version will get a V6 engine with stop-start technology and revised direct injection that improves fuel economy. The top version will get a 4.6 liter V8 engine (down from the current 5.4 liter version) that delivers 429 HP and offers improved fuel economy. The diesel line-up will include a new base version called the S250 CDI and is powered by a 2.1 liter four-cylinder engine with 204 HP.
Also, the next S-class is believed to be the first model to use Mercedes’ radical Diesotto powerplant. The system was introduced in the F700 concept and it is in fact a four-cylinder with a displacement of only 1.8 liters, combining the strong points of the low-emission gasoline engine with the consumption benefits of the diesel drive.
