Maserati’s got some spankin’ new digs to show off, but unlike what we’ve been used to with these guys, what they have in store - literally and figuratively - for us doesn’t even come with a set of wheels.
Taking its cue from the ever-increasing number of auto marques diving into the retail merchandise segment, Maserati has tied up with a number of fashion houses to design the brand’s all-new merchandise collection. Among the fashion studios Maserati has already tied up with includes Vuarnet, Suprem, and Pellemoda, among others. The collection also comes with a wide range of apparel and accessories from equally wide-ranging activities - like golfing and yachting - that should intrigue would-be customers.
The whole Maserati retail collection will be displayed at the Pitti Uomo fashion show at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. So if you happen to be on your way to Florence, you might want to drop by and see what Maserati has done with their maiden voyage to the world of retail merchandising.

If you’re the type that daydreams about being behind the wheel of a Formula One car, we may have found the place where you can fulfill your dreams without actually being inside a real F1 car.
That place is the I-Way World in Lyons, France, and it’s got just about everything a racing fanatic would want under one roof. Designed by renowned artist Cyrille Druant back in 2006, the I-Way World comes with a number of unique spaces including restaurants, shops, lounges, a spa, conference rooms, and even office spaces. And there’s also that little matter of those revolutionary 18 six-axis race simulators featuring a variety of racing series’ including Formula One, endurance racing, and rally/touring racing.
Getting behind the wheel of one may sound like a lot of fun, but it also comes with a price. One race behind a simulator costs $73. There’s also a 10-race package that goes for $770, which isn’t exactly peanuts for a lot of us. Those who go to I-Way World without the intention of trying out these simulators can also opt for a little recreational fun with shops that include Porsche Design, Tag Heuer, Sparco, and Equipaggiamenti.
Whatever your intention is, the I-Way World in Lyons has something enjoyable for you to do, making it one of those places that should be on the list of anyone who has plans of making a trip to France.

There’s nothing more ridiculous than paying double the price for a 1/18th scale replica of a car that already comes with a price tag of $2 million. Unless, of course, that mini replica is made completely of solid gold and platinum. Oh, and it’s got diamonds, too. Lots and lots of diamonds.
Co-created by British jeweler Stuart Hughes and Swiss model car maker Robert Gulpen, this extremely limited Diamond Edition Bugatti Veyron scale model is without question, one of the most expensive - and rarest - scale model replicas you’ll ever come across. Made of solid 24-carat gold and platinum with a single cut 7.2-carat diamond found in the Veyron’s grille, this 7-kilo piece of art will only be limited to three models at about $4 million a piece. Apart from the eye-popping exterior, this replica also comes with a steering that actually turns and operates the wheels of the car plus an operational convertible hood that’s completely similar to a real life-size Veyron.
While it seems completely absurd for anyone to purchase this replica knowing that with that money, you can buy two of the real things, some people - yeah, those obscenely rich folks that use hundred-dollar bills as centerpieces in their dining table - won’t have any problem forking over that kind of money if it means having one of these gold and diamond-studded Veyrons sitting proudly on their desks.

Pininfarina, in cooperation with watch maker Bovet, has unveiled the Ottana Tourbillon, an exclusive watch limited to only 80 pieces and rumored to be priced between $280,000 - to $300,000.
The new Bovet Pininfarina Tourbillon Ottana watch will be offered in three different versions. The first one is coated in a steel and titanium case and the other two models coated in titanium with either 18k white or rose gold bezels.
The watch has special indicators for time (with a smaller single hand dial on the back of the watch), a seconds hand that makes a revolution each three minutes with an indicator for each minute, big date indicator, power reserve indicator (watch has about 80 hours of power reserve), and a unique 80 second tourbillon. We could go into all of the bells and whistles, but it would probably be easier to hit the jump and check out the specifications for yourself.

Any parent with a young teenage kid that has any remote interest in cars will need to hop online and scoop up a copy of “Race”, an independent computer animated sci-fi action film that’s catered towards an audience in the PG-13 demographic – OK, so it’s not for the little tykes because the movie’s got little doses of suggestive images and action violence.
Taking the plot of good versus evil and integrating a lot of car racing into it, “Race” features protagonists – and drivers – Trance Caldron and Team Earth duking it out with nemesis Team Tagmatian where the fate of the entire universe is hanging on the balance on who can stake claim to the prestigious Star Car Championship. Like what the movie says, “in a race between good and evil...winning is everything.”
"Race" is available online at a standard retail price of $32.99
The whole project is the brainchild of Hyper Image, a post production and animation studio in Glendale, California. As their very first feature, the company is banking on a strong reception for “Race”, which they should easily attain for its highly-entertaining plot and, of course, all those mach cars trying to take each other out.

If and when Gran Turismo 5 does get released, you can rest assured that die-hard racing gamers are going to punch, kick, and scratch each other at the chance to get whatever high-tech accessory will come with making the game much more exciting to play.
Thrustmaster - yeah, that’s their name - has come out with one that should make gamers and Ferrari fans alike drool in excitement. Called the Ferrari Wireless GT Cockpit 430 Scuderia Edition, the steering wheel accessory comes with an 11-inch steering wheel, which is actually a 70% scale replica of the one found in the real 430 Scuderia.
The whole system is also compatible with both the Playstation 3 and PC, making it the perfect steering wheel accessory for any racing game that is suited for the two gaming platforms. Unfortunately, the whole set-up doesn’t come cheap, given that Thrustmaster is charging a swell $250 for one piece, but if you love your video games enough and have the resources to splurge on them, then it’s a purchase that you might have trouble resisting.
