Nike releases special-edition Kobe Bryant-Aston Martin Hyperdunks

Remember that Nike viral marketing video of Kobe Bryant jumping over an Aston Martin using only his new – at that time, at least – Nike Hyperdunks?

Well, that rather outrageous cross-promotion from Nike and Aston Martin has finally come full circle after the shoe brand recently released a special-edition Kobe Bryant Aston Martin Edition Hyperdunk. The shoe, which features some shiny leather, Kobe’s signature embossed on the inside tongue, and the Aston Martin logo on the outer tongue is already selling for a whopping $700.

What’s more, Nike only made 500 of these bad boys so you can expect all the sneakerheads to be busting out of line to get a chance to scoop this limited run kicks for themselves. We just hope that they don’t do anything silly and try their luck jumping over an Aston Martin with these shoes.

Nissan GT-R: Born to Race coffetable book a must-have for every GT-R fan in the world

In terms of popularity among sports cars, the Nissan GT-R is just about as popular as any sports car to have been released in recent times. Why else would it have such a tremendous following among car enthusiasts all over the world?

Heck, it even has one of the coolest nicknames – Godzilla – to have been bestowed upon a sports car!

That being said, fans of the GT-R – and we’re pretty sure that they are a whole lot of them – would be thrilled to know that a new coffee table book about the GT-R is now being sold for a pretty modest price tag of £ 39.99 ($61.50).

Continued after the jump.

Bentley Boutique to set up shop at the Geneva Motor Show

Would you ever buy a pair of sunglasses for $14,000? What about a fountain pen for around $6,000?

If you answered to the tune of ‘Heck, No!’, then we won’t blame you. After all, spending for a pair of glasses that cost about as much as a new entry-level car is borderline ridiculous.

But if you’re the type that finds money allergic – therefore you spend it any way you can – then you might find these items a little more alluring, especially since they’re made by Bentley.

These two items, along with a lot more, will be sold at Bentley’s own boutique at the Geneva Motor Show. In addition to the sunglasses and the roller pens, Bentley is also selling passport holders, wallets, cufflinks, ties, gloves, pens, and even those limited edition Zai Supersport skis that we featured about a month ago.

Needless to say, those who don’t have enough cash to purchase even a regular pair of skis shouldn’t even bother going to the Bentley Boutique – unless, of course, they’re there for some good old fashioned window shopping. But if you’re going there with intentions to purchase, then we suggest you bring a lot of money with you, or maybe take three credit cards, just to be sure.

Hand-held scanner can copy car keys

The double-edged sword that is technology has, throughout history, produced some of the most remarkable inventions the world has ever known. And while most of them have been or are being put to good use, there are some inventions that, while pretty cool in their own right, poses an element of threat should they fall in the wrong hands.

Take this new Electronic Key Impressioner for example. The EKI is a small hand-held device that has the capability to electronically map the inside of car locks and remold a key that could open the car lock that it previously scanned. With the use of a USB port and a lock mapping software, users of the EKI can completely redesign and duplicate a set number of keys.

On one hand, this new device could end up becoming a locksmith’s new BFF – imagine how easy it would be for them to just scan a certain lock’s key codes and create a duplicate using a lock mapping software. On the flip side, however, the EKI – should they end up with someone with evil intentions – could also become a thief’s new favorite toy. Can you imagine how easy it would be for a lot of car thieves to boost a car simply by using this new contraption?

It may be a little far-fetched but in a time when crime rates all over the world are steadily increasing, we figured that this may not be an appropriate time to be releasing something that could potentially lead to trouble.

Sure, it could end up making the life of a locksmith a whole lot easier. But on the same token, you can also say the same thing for a thi , a car thief, at least.

Kinekt Design shows off Gear Ring

Go to any novelty shop all over the country and chances are, you’re going to find all sorts of oddly-designed rings being sold for maybe three bucks a pop. While these rings serve no purpose other than becoming cheap finger fashion, we think that if anybody would want to ride a ring in style, they should at least take a look at the Gear Ring by Kinekt Design.

As the accompanying video will show you, the Gear Ring is more than just a cheap pop ring; it’s actually a real gear contraption with tiny gears across the face that rotates when the larger rings spin in opposite directions. If you’re having a hard time picturing it in your head, then we invite you to watch the video and see for yourself.

Bentley and Tibaldi rekindle their partnership to create the ‘Tibaldi for Bentley Mulsanne’ pen series

If you’ve expressed any hint of interest in those Ferrari de Varese-inspired Bugatti pens, then we suggest you hold off on that purchase to at least take a look at these Bentley-commissioned Tibaldi pens.

Either way, you’re going to have to pay an exorbitant amount of money and both brands actually fall under the same Volkswagen umbrella, so whatever pen you end up buying, the money’s going to fall on the same pockets.

To commemorate the release of the new 2011 Bentley Mulsanne, these carefully built pens come with the same aura of elegance and luxury that is associated with the car brand that’s attached to it. The Tibaldi for Bentley Mulsanne pen series is unlike any pen you’ll see in your local bookstores.

First of all, they’re made from sterling silver and 18-karat rose gold and they come with knurled metal grips, and three optional wood trims, all of which come from Bentley’s trademark color finishes (burr walnut, burr oak, dark-stained vavona.

Truth be told, this isn’t the first time Bentley and Tibaldi have partnered on a luxurious project like this one. A few years ago, the two brand also collaborated on a similar pen project to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Bentley’s Crewe assembly plant in England.

Now that the new Mulsanne is all but set to roll out of production, it figures that Bentley has yet another reason to celebrate, and what better way to do it than making a series of special-edition roller balls and fountain pens just for this occasion.

Ferrari FXX Click Car Mouse

With Valentin’s Day right around the corner, the Italian dream machine maker Ferrari has come up with a very cool gift idea that is sure to make any member of the tifosi very happy. That is because while only 30 very fortunate individuals, one of which being the seven time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher, can take their 1.5 Million euro FXX out on track under the guidance of Ferrari’s own race engineers to hone their skills with the same attention as the grand prix test drivers, almost anyone can surf the web with the help of their own purpose built Enzo based super car. That is because Ferrari is now offering the FXX Click Car mouse, with optical and wireless technology, that is a scaled down reproduction of a red FXX racing car complete with special racing graphics priced at a much more affordable 39 euro.

Still-to-be-unveiled Renault Twingo CC already has a diecast version

The new Renault Twingo CC is yet to make its world debut but, as it turns out, the car’s die-cast version already has.

These photos, which somehow made its way on the Internet, show what looks to be a die-cast model of the Twingo CC that was produced by Norev, a French die-cast maker that’s no stranger to producing some pretty detailed scale models.

Up to now, we’ve only seen spy photos and renderings of the Twingo but nothing to the effect of what this die-cast version shows. The Twingo CC was supposed to be unveiled at Frankfurt last year but unavoidable delays within Renault have pushed the hatchback’s world debut to this year.

In the meantime, while we still continue to speculate on what the new Twingo CC really looks like, this new die-cast model of the car sounds like a good place to start. It may not be as intricately reliable as other options, but in the event that there is a shortage of options, this die-cast toy is a good place to start.

Bugatti commissions Ferrari to make $15,000 pen

How’s this for ironic: Bugatti – you know them as the makers of one of the most mouth-watering cars in the world – has tapped the services of Ferrari to help them create one of the most expensive ballpoint pens you can imagine.

Ok, it’s not really what you think it is. While it’s true that Bugatti is set to come out with a pen that’s beyond expensive, it didn’t commission the Prancing Horse to make the pens for them but a company that conveniently goes by the name of Ferrari de Varese.

Designed by Luigi Trenti of the aforementioned Ferrari de Varese, the Bugatti Type A pen is not your ordinary ballpoint that you can just buy at any Barnes and Noble. First of all, it’s crafted from aluminum and plated with the following minerals: nickel, silver, palladium, and platinum. You guys keeping up?

In addition to that, the pen’s nib is made from rhodium-coated 18-karat gold that also comes with a sapphire glass window and a lacquered black embossed Bugatti logo.

With all these jewelry and expensive minerals, you can probably imagine how much this Bugatti pen is going to cost you. Let’s just say that for one of these babies, you can actually buy yourself a decent car. That’s right, folks. You’re going to have to shell out $15,000 just to get your hands on one.
