British tuner, Superchips, has decided that diesel engines can be just as much fun as their petrol counterparts, so they decided to do a little reconfiguring for BMW’s 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine that powers models like the BMW 3-Series, 5-Series, 7-Series, X5, and X6.

Superchips was able to increase the power of the diesel engine by 44hp at 4183 rpm and 90 Nm of torque at just 2222 rpm. This brings the total output to 313hp and 627Nm of torque. In order to accomplish this task, Superchips had to perform a remap of the engine while taking into consideration the “careful optimization of fueling and turbo boost settings”. According to Superchips, this reconfiguration allows for a sharper throttle response, a keener, more urgent engine, a harder pull throughout the rev range.

The BMW 3.0 D ECU remap is priced at £445.00 and comes with a 12 month/30,000 mile supplementary vehicle warranty.

If you planned to buy a BMW 5-Series, but haven’t had the chance to place an order yet, then we have some very bad news for you. BMW has announced that the luxury sedan has sold out in all markets, forcing customers to wait three to four months for deliveries.

BMW’s plans to take on Mercedes, Audi, and Volkswagen in sales figures seems to be on its way to success. Ian Robertson, BMW’s sales chief, said BMW is sticking to its target of increasing vehicle sales by a high single-digit percentage. For example, in the second quarter BMW, Mini, and Rolls-Royce sales increased by 14% compared to the first quarter of this year.

On the US market, the BMW 5-Series went on sale this month with the 535i Sedan priced at $50,475 and the V-8 powered 550i at $60,575. The new 5-series shares as much as 70 percent of its technology with the top-of-the-line 7-series priced at $70,150.

A Bimmer Today reader somehow got a series of leaked images of a BMW 5-Series Touring M-Sport Package catalog in his possession. The new package will be available for order this autumn and is rumored to be a preview of the design language from the future BMW M5 F10.

The M Sport package includes a choice of 18" or 19" M light alloy wheels in double spoke design, new front bumper with larger air ducts, side skirts, a modified apron, and dark chrome tail pipes. The interior will get sport seats covered in an exclusive Alcantara combination, an M leather steering wheel, and the roof lining in anthracite for more athleticism. It will also feature M door sills, an M foot rest, an M shift knob, and sets of decorative trim for the dashboard and door panels.

As usual, the M-Sport Package comes with M Sport suspension. It will be offered in a choice of seven exterior colors.

There has been a lot of people following the rumors surrounding the Alpina B5 Bi Turbo and a lot of attempts at creating a rendering of what this highly anticipated car would end up looking like. Finally, we are able to put some of those presumptions to rest. Alpina has unveiled today the first image of the B5 Bi-Turbo that will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed on July 1-4, 2010. Based on the BMW 5-Series, the B5 Bi-Turbo combines luxurious performance, elegant styling, sporty handling, and exclusivity.

The new BMW ALPINA B5 Bi-Turbo combines all of these elements to project a fresh and modern design much like the 2010 BMW Alpina B3 S Biturbo with more of an Alpina B7 look to it.

Of course, Alpina has yet to reveal any actual specs on the vehicle as of yet. We guess we will have to wait until the official unveiling at the festival coming up in just a couple of weeks.

Well it seems that another great car won’t make it to our shores. Is it because we have a weird obsession with SUVs or another strange reason? Who knows, but the truth of the matter is this; no BMW 5-Series Touring for you. So, in its place, we get a completely pointless Gran Turismo. Oh joy.

"The new BMW 5 Series Touring is the perfect symbiosis of driving pleasure, efficiency, versatility and sporting elegance,” BMW said about the new wagon.

The BMW 5-Series Touring is offered with a choice of two straight-six petrol engines as well as a four-cylinder, and a six-cylinder diesel. The base version, BMW 523i Touring is powered by a straight-six engine developing a total of 204 bhp, while in the 535i Touring, the output is raised to 306 hp. As for the diesel versions, the 520d Touring is powered by a four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that develops 184 hp and the 530d Touring features a straight six-cylinder diesel with a 245 hp output. All engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox.

If you want one of these, you’re not alone. We can only hope that in the future, BMW will think about sending the 5-Series Touring to this country. A fast, great looking, and fun to drive car that can haul the whole family and even a dog.

Hmmm...did somebody step on that 2010 BMW 5-Series? It sure looks like it, doesn’t it?

The photo of this caved in Beamer was taken by an F10post forum member - MarkE90M3 - and it clearly shows a significant amount of damage on the car on both its right side and, more severely, the roof - or what’s left of it - that seems to have collapsed under some pretty heavy weight.

Some folks over at the forum have speculated that the missing roof could have been sawed off in order to free what could have been trapped passengers inside. Either way, whatever caused this beautiful 2010 5-Series, which is codenamed ’F10’, to receive this much damage must have been at the wrong place at the wrong time. What a waste of a perfectly awesome car.
