Audi R8 Carbon Limited Edition by Prior Design

Since its launch, the Audi R8 caught all the tuner’s attention. And the new R8 Carbon Limited Edition by Prior Design is a new proof to our statement. The sports car will be customized in limited numbers and customer will receive its individual aerodynamics package.
Starting with the exterior, Prior Design will add a discreet spoiler with a middle fin and two additional flat openings, additional carbon inlets, a new set of curved side skirts, a new bumper with a revised carbon fiber diffuser. The interior also gets additional trim parts from carbon fiber: center console, including the breathtaking control panel and the handbrake handle. The package is finished by 20″ wheels.

Video: Audi R8 and Range Rover Sport being chased by the police
At first look, you’d think that this car chase scene came straight out of an action-packed Hollywood blockbuster, but if you must believe, it’s actually produced entirely in computer-generated imagery (CGI). Yeah, you read that. That Audi R8 and Range Rover Sport you see spectacularly trying to escape the clutches of the police aren’t real. But they sure look like it, right?
Sometimes we tend to forget the beauty that is CGI; it seems that just about every movie that’s produced these days has a tinge of CGI-ness to them. But watching something like this makes us all remember just how unbelievably real CGI can be, especially when you take into account that the video even has closer-ups of the driver deftly manoeuvring the R8 while being chased by a horde of angry coppers.

Audi’s latest promo video of the new R8 V10 Spyder just about sums up the general frustration of driving a supercar out on the city. With the potential hassles of traffic and red lights, it’s easy to grow anxious on unleashing the V10 fury underneath the hood of an R8 Spyder.
But as they say; when the mouse is away, the cat can finally play.
With no stop lights to prevent it from going pedal to the medal, the R8 Spyder is finally let loose and this minute and a half video shows you exactly just how powerful Audi’s soft-top super car is.
Oh and if you’re paying close attention, you might want to close your eyes and just listen to that 194 mph roar.
Goosebumps, eh?

Businessman gives away Audi R8 V10 to a pair of valet attendants in South Africa
Normally, people that have the good fortune of owning a supercar – say an Audi R8 V10 – would treasure their cars, maybe even coming short of worshiping them. But every so often, we come across people that are seem to have no problem letting go of their six-figure vehicle, even if it comes as a result of a strange dream.
Take this guy for example. According to reports, an unnamed businessman gave away his Audi R8 V10 to a pair of valet attendants he had never met before. Before you start questioning the man’s sanity for his rather sudden rush of generosity, the businessman said that he gave away his supercar for next to nothing because he had a dream instructing him to do so.
Ok, maybe now you can start calling him loony.
The man said that according to his dream, he was to take the R8 to Table Mountain in South Africa and while the dream didn’t explicitly tell him to give away his R8, he figured that it was exactly what he was supposed to do.

Busted! Audi E-Tron only develops 501.5 lb-ft of torque
When it was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi announced that their E-tron concept developed a total of 4,500 newton meters of torque, this roughly equates to 3,319 lb-ft when converted from SI to the English system of units. At the time the number seemed a bit suspect, however knowing the awesome grunt provided by an electric motor with its instantaneous torque generated at Zero RPM, we figured why not, after all vorsprung durch technik. Not to mention that the E-Tron being one of one in the world, it would have been very difficult for anyone to confirm or deny these numbers with their own independent testing.
Thanks to a group of scrupulous journalists at Edmund’s Green Car Advisor, they noticed something a bit strange with the way that Audi’s marketing team was presenting their latest concept’s torque figures. It turns out that 3,319 lb-ft is the measurement at the wheels, and while this is usually a preferable method of measuring output, this figure leaves out the reduction caused by gearing and embellishes a bit on the E-Tron’s potential. Instead Audi’s electric concept make a more realistic 501.5 lb-ft of twist, a number which is still impressive, but no where near the numbers that were originally announced.
When asked to comment this mistake, Audi engineers announced they have revealed the “at the wheel” torque numbers, that is clearly multiplied by the gears. And they did that to “describe the E-tron’s grunt because it is more reflective of how electric motors deliver their power.” As long as Audi is more forthcoming with the production version, we here at Top Speed say more power to them.

PPI Razor GTR Carbon Fiber
Of course Dubai Auto Show was all about extreme cars. And a carbon fiber Audi R8 is the perfect example. It was created by PPi design and is based on the Razor GTR kit unveiled at Top Marques Monaco 2009.
New on the model presented at the Dubai Show is a complete carbon fiber kit priced at 35,000 euro.
The kit is being offered in four different stages: the first stage is the Razor GT kit, then there is the Razor GTR kit (stage 2) without the rear engine lid/air channels and rear spoiler. The third stage is the Razor GTR Optical kit – the one in the pictures – that includes glossy carbon fiber and clear-coat and the final one is the Razor GTR Exposed Carbon Fiber covering the complete Audi R8 with a glossy carbon fiber look, including the doors, the bonnet and the roof.

Audi R8 gets skewered by guardrail
Remember that cringe-inducing scene in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen when a Decepticon in the form of an Audi R8 was sliced completely right in the middle?
Who would’ve thought that something like that it would actually happen in real life?
This Audi R8 in Athens, Greece ended up getting pierced from front to rear by, of all things, a guardrail. It’s one thing to crash into one, but for an accident to occur in such a way that the whole car almost gets skewered in half, it’s something nobody wants to be a part of.
Further details about the whole incident have yet to resurface, but from what we’ve heard, the driver and the passenger survived the whole ordeal with the driver suffering some pretty serious injuries and the passenger escaping the scene without injury.

Audi R8 by Cargraphic
The Audi R8 caught again the tuner’s attention. This time it received new Airlift Suspension system from vehicle tuner Cargraphic, but also a complete aerodynamic packages in a carbon design.
The Airlift Suspension system (consisting of air bellows and a separate compressor) elevates the vehicle at the front spoiler by up to 72 mm. In order to protect the suspension, the process lasts just 15 seconds. In inactive condition the bellows form a rigid frictional connection, so that the coil over suspension system alone is used – above 50 km/h the system lowers automatically. The small boot remains untouched by the conversion and the vehicle weight is increased by a mere 3 kilos including the compressor.
The Cargraphic R8 also comes with 19 and 20 inch, one-piece or three-piece designs wheels and a stainless steel exhaust systems.
