Video: Alfa Romeo Giulietta winter testing in Sweden
Pouncing on the snowy roads of Arjeplog, Sweden, the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta sure looks to like its ready for its worldwide debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The Giulietta, which will succeed the out-dates 147 hatchback, figures to play a prominent role in Alfa Romeo’s attempt at infiltrating the compact car segment and compete with the likes of the BMW 1-Series, the Volkswagen Golf, and the equally-new Audi A1.
As we’ve mentioned, the Giulietta will be unveiled in Geneva in two weeks time whereas its market launch is scheduled to take place over the summer in Europe. The car will also come with a myriad of engine variants, including a 120 horsepower and a 170 horsepower version of a 1.4-L turbo unit, a higher end 1.7-L turbo engine that produces about 235 horsepower, and two diesel units that produces about 105 horsepower and 170 horsepower, respectively.
Regardless of what type of engine is fitted underneath its hood, if this video is of any indication as to what the Alfa Romeo Giulietta is capable of – whether it’s on hard surface or in the snow – then we might see a pretty good fight for C-Segment supremacy among all these cars.

Stile Bartone Alfa Romeo Pandion leaked before Geneva Motor Show
Alfa Romeo may not be as flashy as, say, Ferrari or Lamborghini, but they despite that, they sure do make some pretty awesome concept cars.
Their latest offering, which, incidentally, they made to celebrate their 100th anniversary is the Stile Bertone Alfa Romeo Pandion, photos of which were leaked on the Internet weeks before it breaks cover at the Geneva Motor Show.
As far as our so-called ‘expert’ opinions are concerned, the Pandion is about the most exciting-looking concept car we’ve seen since the remarkably sick BMW Vision EfficientDynamics that was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last September.

Fiat boss announces Alfa Romeo’s return to the US by 2012
Alfa Romeo fans in the US have long been waiting for the day when they’re car brand of choice would make its touted return to the land of milk and honey. Well, according to Fiat Group CEO Sergio Marchionne, the day has come for all of you to rejoice.
According to Marchionne, Alfa Romeo will make its triumphant US return by the end of 2012.
A company spokesperson confirmed Marchionne’s statements during an interview with Automotive News and the latter was even quoted as saying that Alfa Romeo’s return to the US resulted in renewed confidence by the brand with their latest product offering, one in which it believes will be greatly accepted in the US and Canada.
“I’m a lot more confident now that Alfa Romeo will reconstitute a product offering that is acceptable globally, and more in particular in the United States and Canada,” Marchionne was quoted as saying.
“There is a strong likelihood that the brand will be back here within the next 24 months.”
Alfa Romeo has already announced that the new Giulia sedan will be the first model to cross the Atlantic to replace the Alfa Romeo 159 that’s currently being phased out slowly in the company’s international markets. What’s more, Alfa Romeo is also expected to manufacture the Giulia in North America around the same time frame of 2012.
While we’re not counting our chickens until they hatch, which means that we’re going with the age old ‘to see is to believe’ adage, but Marchionne’s announcement is as strong a statement as we’ve had in a while regarding the status of Alfa Romeo’s return to the US. And for that, you can’t blame us for getting a little pumped for that time to finally come.

UK Alfa Romeo dealership breaks record for largest Alfa Romeo parade
Some people will do anything to show their love for a particular car brand and if they set a world record along the way, then hey, even better!
In celebrating the 100th anniversary of Alfa Romeo, an Alfa dealership in the
UK, Allams Alfa Romeo in Epsom Surrey, called out as many Alfa Romeo owners as it could for a little show and parade over the weekend. With the record standing at a little over 200 cars, Allams Alfa Romeo parade shattered the mark after 312 cars heeded the call and showed up for the gathering.
Alfa owners from all over the UK showed up in droves with one owner even driving 862 miles just to be part of the festivities.
The new record is still subject to validation by the Guinness Book of World Records, which will perform an investigation regarding the Alfa parade. Since the organizers went through a great detail to ensure the event’s legitimacy – they had video cameras positioned along the route – we’re fully expecting to see the Guinness Book stamp their approval on this new world record.

Pininfarina concept car based on Alfa Romeo coming to Geneva
The design studio Pininfarina has announced that they will unveil a new concept car based on an undetermined Alfa Romeo this March at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show as part of the relationship between the two exotic Italian brands and will commemorate both Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary as well as Alfa Romeo’s centennial.
The Pininfarina Geneva concept will continue the tradition of successful spiders that have gone from simple sketches to road going automobiles thanks to the two automaker’s collaborations of the past. The only details that Pininfarina cared to elaborate on is that the show car will continue the two passenger open air spider theme. While we would expect to see something along the lines of a rebodied 8C super car, Pininfarina may surprise us by chopping the top off of a turbocharged Multiair MiTo before removing the back seat following the fuel efficient future trend towards premium compacts that is becoming all too apparent in the automobile industry. Either way it is sure to make the Quadrifoglio crowd proud.
What would you like to see Pininfarina bring to Geneva?
Press release after the jump.

Video: Alfa Romeo teases new Giulietta ahead of Geneva debut
Contrary to traditional teasers, this teaser video of the 2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta gives us exactly what we need to know about the car without giving away too much. Whereas most teasers are over before we can even comprehend its content, this one actually lasts longer than most commercials and we’re given a full treat of the Giulietta’s exterior.
Even better, Alfa Romeo gives us the full Italian treatment with the voice-over being spoken in the local language with English subtitles to help make all non-Italian speakers understand what he’s talking about.
Now isn’t this what teaser videos should all look like?

Video: Alfa Romeo releases first teaser video of 2011 Giulietta
With less than two months to go before Alfa Romeo’s new Giulietta hatchback makes its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, Alfa Romeo is working round the clock to generate buzz for their new sports hatch.
As such, the Italian brand is wasting little time in beginning their marketing campaign for the Giulietta with the first of what you can expect to be a series of videos of the new Alfa Romeo hatchback.
It must be noted that while this current video doesn’t say a great deal about the car – it’s pretty much a teaser video of the Giulietta – you can be sure that Alfa Romeo has a few more videos being kept under wraps, which it will begin to release as the countdown to the 2010 Geneva Motor Show approaches.

Alfa 8C Competizione by Autodelta
The British tuning house Autodelta is preparing to unveil the world’s first modified Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione at the upcoming PistonHeads Performance Car Show next month in the U.K. As fantastic as the 8C looks on paper, and even in real life, Alfa’s latest super car was praised for its poised bodywork by Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson before being admonished for its behavior on track.
According to the blokes at the shop, the special 8C is “Not available as part of our upgrade options, this specific car has been reworked by our engineers to allow them to begin our future development phase of the new 4.7 V8 engine, and included intensive testing on leading European race tracks where the Alfa 8C Competizione was born to stretch its agile legs.” Although Autodelta is remaining a bit tight lipped, all we know is that the boffins will work their magic on the Alfa in the form of a few chassis and suspension upgrades and thanks to a reprogrammed ECU, the screaming Italian eight cylinder will deliver an extra 17 HP.

Special edition Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione spotted in Ukraine
Ukraine is hardly one of the places people travel to in search of exotic cars. But that doesn’t mean that these rare beasts can’t be found there either. Our friends from the Eastern European nation were kind enough to send us shots of an Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione out on the road. We know that only 500 of these cars have been made and our giddy Ukranian friends were humble enough to mention that one such model in their homeland is more than just one of the 500. This particaluar car comes (…)
